As the mowing season winds down, it’s time to prepare your Landroid for winter storage. Following these steps will ensure it’s in top shape for the next season and extends its lifespan. This guide includes how to properly store and maintain your Landroid, with a focus on cleaning, battery care, and protecting key components.
Before storing your Landroid, give it a thorough cleaning to remove dirt and debris that can cause wear and damage over time.
Cleaning fluid and cloth
Stiff brush
Small brush
Philips screwdriver
Protective gloves
3 sandpaper strips
Use the cleaning fluid, a cloth, and brushes to remove dirt from the housing and cutting disc.
Avoid high-pressure water, as moisture can damage components.
Dirt on the wheels can reduce traction, so use a stiff brush to remove grass and soil buildup from the wheel treads.
Use sandpaper strips to gently clean the charging contacts on both the Landroid and the charging base. This helps maintain optimal charging performance.
For a sharp, efficient cut in the next season, replace the blades now. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the old blades, and wear protective gloves during this process for safety.
If the lock function is enabled on your Landroid, take precautions to avoid accidental activation during storage:
The lock function will engage if the Landroid loses Wi-Fi connectivity for 72 hours.
If you’re storing the Landroid in an area without Wi-Fi, disable the lock function in the app before storage.
If the Landroid locks due to a Wi-Fi disruption (e.g., router offline), simply reconnect it to Wi-Fi to unlock it.
If you have changed your router settings, you will need to reconnect the Landroid to your new network. To do this, pair the robot again through the app by selecting Reconnect under **Settings.
Lithium batteries discharge faster in cold temperatures. To maintain performance and extend battery life, follow these storage guidelines.
Charge the battery to around 70–80% before storing. This level is ideal for long-term storage and helps prevent capacity loss.
If possible, recharge the battery every two months during storage to avoid deep discharge.
Always remove the battery from the robot before storing it. Tools should never be put aside with batteries inside, as this can lead to unnecessary power drain and possible battery damage over time.
Store both the robot and the battery in a dry, frost-free place, away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
You can either place the Landroid on its charging station for a quick recharge, or if you prefer, remove the battery and use a Worx 20V PowerShare charger indoors.
Your charging base can stay outside during winter, but if you expect extremely low temperatures, consider bringing it indoors. If you leave it outside:
Disconnect the boundary wire ends and wrap them with insulating tape to prevent oxidation.
By following these winter storage and maintenance steps, your Landroid will be ready for a smooth start when spring returns!
